8 Reasons to Visit Minneapolis This Fall
Minneapolis has big plans this fall and is ready to give you plenty of new reasons to come check out the city! 1. Taste Plenty of New Eats
There is no shortage of places to eat in Minneapolis and with restaurants popping up all over the place you can find something for whatever your stomach desires. New eateries have opened up with creative foods, menus for healthy and inclusive lifestyles and flavors from around the world. Check out a few we can't wait to try:
- Milly's Wine Bar: Now open in the Mill District at the edge of downtown, Milly's has an extensive wine menu both by the bottle and by the glass, with the goal being to make good wine accessible.
- Baba's Hummus House: Palestinian flatbreads (Mana'eesh) and hummus bowls are now be served at the new brick and motor Baba's location in Uptown.
- Hi Flora!: The new plant-based restaurant, also offers a side of 5 milligram tinctures of THC for purchase to add to their food or drinks.
- Luna & the Bear: Taking over the old Eat Street Social space, Luna & the Bear is a a dog-inspired tavern, with "dog-themed" decor and classic tavern cuisine.
- Porzana and the Flora Room: Just opened in the North Loop neighborhood is Chef Daniel del Prado and restaurateur Ryan Burnet's newest spot. Porzana is a restaurant on the first-floor, while the Flora Room is an upscale cocktail bar downstairs. They serve top quality beef steaks, seafood, vegetables and Argentinean pasta choices.
- Silver Fern: Expected to open in September, this will be a cafe, bakery and wine bar in the Northeast Neighborhood.
2. See the New Broadway Season at the Orpheum
Hennepin Theater Trust's 2023-2024 Broadway Season will debut in Mid-October. The Orpheum Theater will get its first look at some Tony-Award winning shows this fall as both Girl From the North Country and the revival of Company will make their debuts in Minneapolis.

4. View a New Art Exhibit
- Weisman Museum: Urban Cadence
This exhibit tells the multifaceted stories of two urban environments—Lagos, Nigeria and Johannesburg, South Africa—experienced through the artistic expressions of photography and video. African cities are growing rapidly, and these two cities have experienced this growth in diverse yet fascinating ways: the first as a mega-city, the latter as a center of industrial development. The street scenes in this exhibition represent the complex narratives of these urban areas: tales of migration, labor, desperation, success, hope, and imagination among others.

- Mia: In Our Hands: Native Photography, 1890 to Now
Enter into the vivid worlds of Native photography, as framed by generations of First Nations, Métis, Inuit, and Native American photographers themselves. Presenting over 150 photographs of, by, and for Indigenous people, “In Our Hands” welcomes all to see through the lens held by Native photographers. Organized by a council of primarily Native artists, scholars, and knowledge sharers, in partnership with Mia curators, this sweeping exhibition traces the intersecting histories of photography and diverse Indigenous cultures from the Rio Grande to the Arctic Circle. Beautiful,complex, and surprising, these artworks celebrate the legacy of groundbreaking photographers and their influence on the medium today.

5. Indulge in a New Immersive Experience
Not your average mini-golf course, The Puttery, offers a new, immersive way to show off your short game. Each course is intricately designed to make you feel like you've stepped into a whole new world. This 21+ only spot also offers three bars, craft cocktails and upscale food.

6. Connect with Indigenous Culture in a New Way
The Indigenous Food Lab opened recently at the Midtown Global Market. Not only is it a place to grab some Native American cuisine lunch and dinner options, it will also feature a hot tea bar, a market of Indigenous products, a Spirit Kitchen for Indigenous food entrepreneurs to test products, and an education studio to hold and record Indigenous cooking demonstrations and other classes on Indigenous culture and foodways.

7. Enjoy a Lakeside Activity at a New Pavilion
Bde Maka Ska will get a brand new pavilion which will have two new buildings, all-gender accessible restrooms, a small performance space, rail seating by the lake, covered seating and a new restaurant space that will be occupied by local restaurant Pimento Jamaican Chicken. A new mural will also be added to the space, created by Native American artists from all around Minnesota.

Grab a one of a kind gift at the newly opened Simply Creative storefront in Northeast Minneapolis. This artisanal shop displays works by over 50 local artists for purchase, including handcrafted jewelry, locally made ceramics, fine artisan paintings, drawings, digital art and other Minnesota based artist goods. The space also houses instructor-led workshops for creating your own homemade products.
